GIFTS FOR MOTHER

GIFTS FOR MOTHER
Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and
lawyers and prospered. Some years later, they chatted after having dinner
together. They discussed the gifts that they were able to give to their elderly
mother, who lived far away in another city.
The first said, “I had a big house built for Mama. The second said, “I had a
hundred thousand dollar theater built in the house. The third said, “I had my
Mercedes dealer deliver her an SL600with a chauffeur. The fourth said, “Listen
to this. You know how Mama loved reading the Bible and you know she can’t
read it anymore because she can’t see very well. I met this monk who told me
about a parrot that can recite the entire Bible. It took 20monks 12years to
teach him. I had to pledge them $100,000a year for 20years to the church,
but it was worth it. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse and the
parrot will recite it.” The other brothers were impressed.

Fat Man

Fat Man
There is a fat man. The man is very fat. He weighs 500 pounds (227 kg). When he walks, he
always gets tired.
The very fat man wants to lose weight. In fact, his doctor tells him, "You must lose weight or
you will die!"
The fat man is scared. He doesn't want to die. So he starts a diet. For one month, he eats only
grass. Of course, the grass tastes terrible. But the man really wants to lose weight.
Unfortunately, after one month, he is still very fat. He doesn't lose any weight! Not one pound!
The fat man is frustrated. He decides to exercise. Everyday he walks 12 miles (20 km).
Everyday he is very tired. In fact, he is exhausted.

Movie Star

Movie Star
One day you are walking on the street. You bump into Brad Pitt. He looks at you and says,
"Wow, you are amazing. Come with me to Los Angeles. I will make you a movie star."
You go to LA and become a famous movie star. You are rich. Everybody loves you. But you
have a problem. You are lonely in LA. You miss your friends. So you decide to fly home and
visit your friends and family.
You get a first class ticket, because you are rich. However, when you get to the airport, your
flight is delayed.  The ticket agent says, "Im sorry, your flight is delayed 7 and a half hours."
You wait. After 7 and a half hours, an agent says, "Im sorry, but the flight has been cancelled".
You are angry. You yell at the agent, "I've been waiting 7 and a half hours. Im tired and I'm
pissed off.  I want another flight."
The agent recognizes you, because you are a famous movie star. She says, "I'm so sorry... we'll
get you on another flight." She looks on her computer and finds another flight in 4 hours.

Baseball Pig

Baseball Pig
There is a little pig.  The pig wants to be a baseball player.   Everyday, he practices baseball.  He
practices hitting a baseball.  He wants to be a big hitter.  
After 10 years of practice, the pig decides to try out for the New York Yankees-- the most
famous baseball team in America.  He takes a direct flight to New York, then rents a car and
drives to Yankee Stadium.
He tries out for the Yankees, but the Yankees reject him.  The Yankees' manager says, "I'm
sorry.  You are an amazing baseball player, but we can't let a pig join our team."

Mama's Boys

Mama's Boys
Sara recently retired from her job of 23 years.   Because she retired, Sara has less money than
she used to.   She has enough money for herself, but she has a problem.  
She has 2 sons.  One is 23 and the other is 26.  Both sons work.  However, they both live at
home with their mom.   They eat her food and expect her to cook for them.   They also expect
Sara to clean their rooms.   The boys never do any  chores at all.  Also, they don't pay for food or
anything else.   In short, they are mama's boys.
Sare is sick of the situation.   She thinks, "They're adults.  They should be living on their own,
not still living with their mother.  I'm going to kick them out."
During dinner that night, Sara tells the boys, "Its time for you two to take responsibility.  You
can't live with me anymore.  I'm not going to cook for you.  I'm not going to clean for you.  You
need to grow up and get your own apartments!"
The boys are very upset.   They complain.  They rant and rave-- "You're a terrible mom.  How
can you do this.  We're your children.  Its not fair."   The boys continue to rant and rave for 57
hours without stopping.  But Sara won't budge.

گرامر زبان 30 فصل 5: افعال اسمي افعال اسمي در حالت تأثير پذيري.

(Gerunds in Passive sense) استفاده مي كنيم كه در اين حالت فعل Gerund از require و want،need اغلب اوقات پس از افعال اسمي حالت تأثير پذيري را نشان مي دهد:

 I have three pants that need washing (needs to be washed). This letter requires signing (needs to be signed).

 The house wants repainting (needs to be repainted). want يك عبارت انگليسي بريتانيايي مي باشد. ميدانيم پس از Something wants doing نكته : عبارت معمولا مصدر را مي نويسيم. 

 گرامر زبان 31 فصل 6: افعال چند كلمه اي : ((Phrasal Verbs) افعال چند كلمه اي (به لفظ عامهافعال عبارتي افعال عبارتي بخشي از گروه بزرگي از افعال به نام "افعال چند كلمه اي" مي باشند. به كار گيري افعال چند بسياري .get on with و يا turn on ،pick up : كلمه اي به خصوص در مكالمه بسيار رايج مي باشد. مانند افعال عبارتي) مي گويند كه شامل ) Phrasal Verbs از مردم براي راحتي به تمامي انواع افعال چند كلمه اي يك فعل اصلي به همراه يك و يا چند لغت ديگر است. لغاتي كه همراه با فعل اصلي مي آيند مي توانند قيد و يا حرف اضافه باشند. يا افعال عبارتي همچنان يك فعل هستند.

Phrasal verbs نكته اي كه بايد به آن توجه داشت اين است كه نيز يك فعل مي باشد، كه در معنا با هم متفاوتند. پس به افعال عبارتي نيز بايد به get up ، يك فعل است get چشم يك فعل جداگانه، با معناي جداگانه نگريست. همانطور كه در مثال زير ملاحظه مي كنيد، سه نوع فعل عبارتي داريم : فعل يك كلمه اي look direct your eyes in a certain direction You must look before you leap. افعال چند كلمه اي prepositional verbs افعال اضافي look after take care of Who is looking after the baby? phrasal verbs افعال عبارتي look up search for and find information in a reference book You can look up my number in the telephone directory. phrasal-prepositional verbs افعال اضافي - عبارتي look forward to anticipate with pleasure I look forward to meeting you.

 در اين درس نگاهي خواهيم داشت به انواع افعال چند كلمه اي : (Phrasal Verbs) افعال عبارتي ساختار اصلي افعال عبارتي به شكل زير است : Verb + Adverb افعال عبارتي هم مي توانند لازم و هم متعدي باشند. به چند مثال از افعال عبارتي توجه كنيد : phrasal verbs meaning examples direct object intransitive phrasal verbs get up rise from bed I don't like to get up. break down cease to function He was late because his car broke down. transitive phrasal verbs put off postpone We will have to put off the meeting. turn down refuse They turned down my offer.

فعل

 فعل چيست: فعل مهمترين بخش در زبان انگليسي مي باشد، حتي كوتاهترين جملات داراي فعل هستند. شما مي توانيد يك Stop! : جمله يك كلمه اي به كمك فعل بسازيد مثل work و run ،fight : مي گوييم مانند Action word برخي از افعال انجام كاري را مي رسانند كه به آنها مي گوييم State word برخي ديگر چنين نيستند و معمولا وضعيت و يا وجود چيزي را مي رسانند كه به آنها belong ، seem ، exist ،be : مانند يك فعل هميشه داري فاعل است ( كننده كار) مثال: John speaks English . فعل مي باشد. بنابراين مي توانيم بگوييم كه افعال كلماتي هستند speaks و (subject) فاعل John در اينجا كه به ما مي گويند فاعل چه مي كند و يا چه هست: Action: Renaldo plays football. State :Owen seems kind. نكته اي كه در مورد فعل ها وجود دارد اين است كه افعال بر خلاف ديگر كلمات ( صفات ، قيد ها ، حروف مي باشند. ( s اضافه و ...) شكل هاي مختلفي دارند اگر چه كه اسمها نيز داراي دو نوع مفرد و جمع( همراه با كار كردن) داراي پنج شكل است: ) to work مثلا فعل to work , work , worked , works , working تقسيم بندي فعل 1 Active Voice and Passive Voice: مي گوييم : voice دو شكل خاص از فعلها وجود دارد كه به آن Active voice _ Passive voice _ Active Voice:-1 عملي را بر روي (subject) استفاده مي كنيم و بيانگر اين است كه فاعل active voice در اغلب موارد ما از انجام مي دهد، به عنوان مثال : (object) شيء يا مفعول Cat eats fish. cat :Subject or Active object. eats : Verb fish :Passive object در اينجا گربه(فاعل) عمل خوردن را بر روي ماهي (شيء) انجام مي دهد.
